Your days will consist of…

  • Production and team supervision
    • Supervises the production cook and prep team
    • Working alongside great people preparing fresh, healthy & developmentally friendly food for kids
    • Scratch cooking of bulk, large volume recipes with great attention to detail
    • Supervising the production team through hands on training across all areas of production and follow through on assigned duties to team members
    • Conducting daily meetings with production teams to layout daily expectations and goals
    • Checking all products to ensure they meet our high standards
    • Reviewing specific recipes during scale up with production leads to ensure all quality and consistency standards are being met
    • Actively working with sourcing and procurement, production, plating and fulfillment team members  to ensure ingredients and prepared meals are properly stored and rotated
    • Constructively and expeditiously confronting and resolving employee conflicts in a fair and well balanced manner  
    • Working with the procurement team to ensure products are always procured and available as needed for production cycles
    • Actively communicating with the second shift production supervisor and warehouse and fulfillment supervisor all relevant statuses of production before handoff
  • Food safety and quality assurance
    • Working with food safety, quality assurance and other production leadership to identify and implement food safety and quality improvements where needed as we scale
    • Always taking a hands on approach and helping to problem solve on the spot ensuring that food safety, quality and consistency are paramount
    • Overseeing production leads & production team members to ensure lot tracking is recorded for each and every recipe
    • Tracking times and temperatures during the cooking process to ensure compliance with our HACCP plans – confirming that all cook & chill temp logs are being completed for every item that is produced and logs are shared with the FSQA team
  • Administrative
    • Weekly downloading and loading of production reports into production software for scaled recipes
    • Printing of inventory tracking sheets after production export has been downloaded and the recipes scaled
    • Daily updating of operations dashboard to track production progress against daily production cycle goals
    • Ensuring that all yields to recipes are recorded and any adjustments to recipes are noted to be changed
    • Developing production schedules along with the Second Shift Production team based on menu complexity and total meal needs during production cycles
    • Writing weekly labor schedules for both production leads and line staff adhering to budgets and forecasted production volumes
    • Working closely with our Research & Development team to review future menu items and discuss roll out efforts and standards
    • Helping to assist the inventory process that happens weekly ensuring all counts are accurate and precise
    • Conducting weekly production leadership meetings to review past production cycles and discuss areas of improvement, opportunity and growth

We’d love for you to have…

  • HACCP & PCQI Certifications
  • Experience with USDA, FDA, SQF, GFSI, OSHA & GMP
  • Have 5+ years experience in great food manufacturing facilities or high volume kitchens as a production supervisor
  • Take safety very seriously and have an Illinois Food Handlers Card and/or Food Safety Certification
  • Leadership experience in a managerial or supervisor role with multiple levels of reporting
  • Prior knowledge or experience managing production within a food processing facility
  • Have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks
  • Be self-motivated and work well without close supervision
  • Possess excellent coaching, training, communication and planning skills
  • Have leadership capability to organize and effectively run a staff of 15 plus team members
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and share your ideas no matter how out there you may think they’ll sound
  • Have a simple mathematical ability to cost recipes & put together basic profit & loss calculations
  • Hold the ability to stand for long periods of time, push or pull 50 lbs & carry 25 lbs
  • Have experience with computer systems

  • You have experience is fresh RTE products producing a wide variety of SKUs during a production cycle
  • You have knowledge of MAP packaging techniques and best practices
  • You’re mechanically inclined and have the ability to troubleshoot production equipment
