POSITION SUMMARY
Production Supervisor / Manager is responsible to oversee all finished goods being put into trays or jars for that days meal production. They manage the teams and ensure pack off temp logs and all meal weights are met before moving the finished product to the seal and label area. The manager shall ensure that all GMP’s and SOP’s are being followed at all times in this area of the facility.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directing, with a hands-on approach, the packaging, sealing and labeling of prepared meals for our customers while managing your team (approximately 30-50 in total) ensuring food safety, consistency, efficiency and quality are all met on a daily basis
- Mentoring and coaching leads as well as line personnel to develop future leaders within the team
- Always taking a hands-on approach and helping to problem solve on the spot ensuring that food safety, quality and consistency are paramount
- Developing packaging schedules along with the Production Manager based on menu complexity and total meal needs during production cycles
- Running ROP/MAP machines ensuring the quality of all seals and integrity of the final package
- Reviewing and/or writing weekly schedules for both supervisors and line staff adhering to budgets and forecasted production volumes
- Ensuring that all products are handled properly, packaged according to SOPs and adhere to all HACCP plans and GMPs
- Working alongside production managers and our QA/Safety manager to develop all encompassing GMPs and SSOPs
- Working closely with our Research and Development team to review future menu items and discuss roll out efforts, standards, packaging guidelines and ways to ensure consistency are met
- Constructively and expeditiously confronting and resolving employee conflicts in a fair and well balanced manner
- Continual development of employee training programs
- Working with the procurement team to ensure all food packaging supplies are procured and available as needed for production cycles
- Conducting daily meetings with your team to lay out daily expectations and goals
- Conducting weekly management meetings to review past production cycles and discuss areas of improvement, opportunity and growth
- Using a multiple step inventory system to confirm that all production numbers have been met per the production schedule
- Logging any and all waste to better understand recipe scaling as well as efficiencies with the packaging process
- Working with the fulfillment manager to manage outgoing meals and ensure they are complete and ready for the fulfillment teams to ship
- Constant communication both verbally and via email to better understand areas for improvement, new SOP changes or general questions with the process
- Continually monitoring packaging areas for sanitation along with the QA/Safety Manager
- Strive to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan based on SQF requirements, consistent with established manufacturing, quality and safety procedures.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- HACCP temperature logging experience
- Experience with USDA, FDA, SQF, GFSI, OSHA & GMP
- Experience with hand crafted food products packaged both manually and with automation
- 1+ years of related experience in a similar position managing a team
- Leadership experience in a supervisory or management role
- Prior knowledge or experience managing food packaging within a food processing facility
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks
- The ability to be self-motivated and work well without close supervision
- Excellent coaching, training, communication and planning skills
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
- An entrepreneurial spirit and share your ideas no matter how crazy you may think they’ll sound
- Strong command of Microsoft Word and Excel and/or Google Sheets and Docs
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is a typical food manufacturing environment with multiple processes happening at the same time with various teams throughout the facility.
