FAQs
- What ages are Kids Meals for? Nurture Life Kids Meals are nutritionally designed to support growing kids. Kids Meals are appropriate for kids ages 1-8 years old, but work best for active kids ages 2 and up to hit the sweet spot for portion size.
- Can Kids Meals work for older kids? Yes! Older kids can enjoy Nurture Life Kids Meals too. Our balanced meals are designed to support kids' growth from ages 1-8. For kids ages 4+, depending on appetite and activity level, you may consider supplementing our meals with an additional side like fruit or milk (or one of our Superfood Smoothies or a few Mighty Bites) to increase total portion volume and calories.
- Which type of meal should I order for my toddler—Finger Foods or Kids Meals? Both our Kids Meals and our Finger Foods work for toddlers. The best way to decide which meal type might work best is to ask yourself a couple questions about where your toddler is in their self-feeding process:
- Are they using (or trying to use) utensils?
- Are they showing signs of wanting more food after mealtime? (This can be a sign that they're ready for larger portions.)
- Have they tried basic finger food ingredients and seem ready for more diverse flavors and textures?
If you answered yes to these questions, your toddler is likely ready to try our Kids Meals! Our Kids Meals are similar to an adult plate but in smaller portions, perfectly sized to give your little one the nutrients they need at this stage. They’re also great for expanding your toddler’s palate and teaching them to love real, nutrient-dense foods! Some of the meals will require some parent intervention in terms of cutting bigger pieces of food down to a smaller size that you find appropriate for your little one; however, we have a variety of soft, veggie and pasta-based meals (Chicken Meatballs with Spiral Pasta & Veggies or Alfredo Bow Ties with Turkey Meatballs & Broccoli) that you may want to order as a starting point.
If you answered no to some or all of these questions, you might want to consider ordering a mix of Finger Foods and Kids Meals or just Finger Foods. Our Finger Foods are perfect for toddlers still in the earlier stages of their self-feeding journey because they offer a softer texture and smaller size (no chopping necessary!). They're also designed to be large enough to pick up with little fingers, yet small enough for soft and easy gumming and mashing without teeth.
Many of our toddler customers love to get a mix of both our Finger Foods and Kids Meals as they make the self-feeding transition, so we encourage you to consider trying both and seeing what works best! - How do you store Kids Meals? In the fridge!
- How long do Kids Meals last? Our Kids Meals are made fresh and can be enjoyed for 6–8 days after they are delivered and refrigerated. Check the enjoy by stamp on each meal to verify its shelf life.
- How do I prepare Kids Meals? Kids Meals can either be heated in the microwave or oven! To microwave, pierce the film seal and heat on high for 1 minute until internal temperature reaches 165° F.
To heat in the oven, preheat oven to 350° F, transfer the meal to an oven-safe container, cover with foil or other oven-safe cover, and heat for 10–15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165° F.
Note that for both methods, heating times may vary. Allow time to cool and test temperature before serving. - Can you freeze Kids Meals? Yes! Freezing is a great option when meals have reached their enjoy by date and you don’t want to waste them. Just make sure to freeze meals on or before the enjoy by date printed on the packaging, and the meal will be good for up to 90 days!
To serve, thaw overnight and heat as normal. You can also heat from frozen. Pierce the film seal and microwave the meal for 3 minutes and remove to check that the food’s internal temperature reaches 165°F. Continue microwaving in increments of 30 seconds until the meal is fully heated. Allow food to cool to a safe temperature before serving. - How much protein is in Kids Meals? We pride ourselves on making meals that prioritize protein. The amount of protein in each Kids Meal varies, but they average around 14 grams of protein per meal. The full nutrition facts panel is available for every menu item so you can review before you order.
- Where can I find nutrition information? On our menu page! Simply click the meal you’re interested in to find nutrition info, ingredients, and meal details.
